Treat candida to treat herpes

To effectively treat severe herpes I have focused on treating candida. I had zero symptoms for about 3 months after hitting candida, but then I took an antibiotic and didn’t replenish my probiotics. I started eating a lot of carbs and bam, the symptoms came back slowly and thne constantly.

I refocused on candida with a Yeast Cleanse (Capryllic acid, Pau D’ Arco, tea tree, oregano, etc.), and Cellulase enzyme. I hit it hard and the die off was terrible for about a week. Very strong near outbreaks, sore back, legs, buttocks, swollen lymph, etc. However, I treated that with the calcium, MSM, omega-3 mix to alkalize the acid and Eye of Newt topically. I also upped my VItamin D to 10,000 IU (I’m 210 lbs.) per day. Occasionally I’m adding MagO7 in the evening to get the Cellulase enzyme distributed throughout the colon.

What happens is as the candida dies, the billions of herpes viruses are released from the candida branches and the body is overwhelmed as it attempts to clear it out. The body is perfectly capable of dealing with herpes in low quantities, but when there is a candida overgrowth then there is an area for herpes and potentially HIV to gather and grow over time.

The mass die-off is bad and the Eye of Newt applied topically really, really helps.

Killing fungus is a long, slow, tedious process. Maintaining a low-carb bulletproof diet is very difficult, however, I’ve been on high protein, high fat, and low carb for about 2 months. The first month was really the hardest as my system got used to it.

One mistake was Coconut oil versus MCT oil and now my LDL is high and HDL is low so I do need to monitor my cholesterol.

I ran my Doug Coil Rife Machine on my system last night (9/16/13) and my large colon has very small indication of candida. I ran through the frequencies 802.3 Hz, 1467.6Hz, 1552 Hz and got minor hits at 1552. I did feel some hits in my small colon so I will continue my low-carb, fungus fight.

Enzyme Therapy

Read about Enzymes and read more about enzymes.

Then read this article.

Read about Protein Folding

Understand that a large portion of the cell’s nucleus is not just DNA, but proteins.

Also understand that proteins are everywhere even in the lipid coating surrounding our friends Herpes & Candida. An enzyme is a special type of protein that is like a key that can cause larger proteins to fold & unfold. As you age, your body slows down the production of enzymes and by supplementing, you can make an efficient use of the proteins in your diet and rebuild your nuclear protein stores. You can also speed up chemical reactions – like the destruction of foreign bodies in your system.

I am currently on a high-potency enzyme. I take 3 each night before bed as they can’t be mixed with food, otherwise, they just break down the food.

[UPDATE 5/14/13] After a week on 3 high potency (180,000 HUT each) each night before bed the lymph nodes in my right armpit became very sore so I cut back for a few days until the swelling went down and I’m starting back in at 2 per night. I’ve increased my exercise to attempt to flush the lymph system. Always listen to your body and throttle back anything that may be overloading your waste removal system.

My candida cleanse

This is how I initially treated candida, but I recommend reading the advice at The Candida diet, but avoid threelac and fivelac probiotic as these contain a soil bacteria which is not ideal for the stomach, just read the Amazon reviews.

;

Initially I took MagO7 to clean the colon wall and expose the candida. Next I did Aquaflora Candida High Potency 9, and Pure Candex enzyme to begin breaking down the candida. Then I added in Saccharomyces Boulardii probiotic, a normal probiotic, fiber, oregeno oil, monolaurin, and Caprylic Acid. I also take collagen from YouTheory to build up the elasticity of the colon wall and help fill the cells with protein.

;

First my symptoms got pretty harsh as I went through candida die-off which release lots of herpes virus into the system. But with lots of walking and drinking lots of water the symptoms subsided. Additionally, I got little water blisters all over the hands similar to athletes foot and it itches. This too goes away in time, but is a very clear indicator there is candida die-off.

;

There have been many more benefits to candida cleansing then just being able to reduce my Valtrex intake And reduce most of my herpes symptoms. I had a 2 year old swollen epididymis that went away, I can eat dairy, I can drink beer, it is all very interesting. Also, the cracks in my heels are all but gone.

;

I am far from cured of herpes, there are still some symptoms now and again, but far from anything I’ve suffered over the many, many years Of pain and anguish.

;

Best of luck

Candida – driving toward a “cure”

I have found my personal issue is Candida Fungus (older posts: 1 2).  I thought I had done a great job at eliminating Candida, my tongue was pink and my gums looked great.  However, I was very lactose intolerant and got a sinus infection every time I had the slightest bit of dairy.  Turns out, Candida cannot digest lactose/lactase.  And, doing The Master Cleanse was perhaps the worst thing I could have ever done.  By totally purging my intestines and feeding candida nothing but maple syrup, I gave it everything it need to grow out of control.

Candida and Herpes are both lipid coated and both vibrate at 1552 Hz (Dr. Royal Rife), so they are essentially very good friends like the clown fish and anemone which practice symbiosis and mutualism.

I believe they practice Lipid Bilayer Diffusion  where herpes will stick to candida in order to avoid being detected and purged.  This allows the herpes colony to build up to a level which enables them to be destructive and overwhelm the immune system which is normally capable of addressing herpes.

Prior to cleansing candid I could not go a single day without 1000mg of Valtrex every day.  That much Valtrex causes tendon calcification and aches and pains throughout the body.  I also had herpes pains throughout my groin, buttocks, back, and lymphatic system – mainly in my hamstrings and behind my knees.  As soon as I woke up every day, the first thought through my head was – I have herpes.  Today that is no longer the case.  I will have the occasional ache or pain, but I am not constantly reminded that I am a herpes sufferer.

Understanding how The Master Cleanse caused so many problems, I tried to reverse the process.  I came to this realization after using MagO7 to cleanse my colon.  I thought the oxygen would kill any herpes, but it turns out that by exposing the colon wall my intestines became infested and my symptoms started getting worse.  My Doug Coil indicated that the entire liver, large and now small intestine were ringing unlike anything before.  After focusing on the colon and reading my prior research I came to realize candida was to blame.  After I read that candida was lipid coated, just like herpes, I realized that treating candida would benefit the treatment of herpes.

I did my own treatment of candid with really good success, but I recommend reading thecandidadiet.com for consistent up to date information on candida, however, avoid taking the multi-level marketing probiotics Threelac and Fivelac as they contain a soil based bacteria not designed for the stomach.  Instead I recommend a good common probiotic and Saccharomyces Boulardii.

However, there are always some negative side effects.  As the biological battle between candida and boulardii are taking place there is som GI discomfort.  Acidic stomach, constipation, discomfort.

best of luck

Oxygenated Magnesium (Mag O7 or Oxy-Powder)

Herpes is primarily a colon infection. The bacteria in the colon reproduce the virus faster and more effectively than human cells. This is one of the reasons MMS seemed to help, but there are far better ways to get a healyh colon. Oxygenated magnesium is a high powered colon cleanse that will promote the growth of health aerobic bacteria and not anaerobic. The oxygen will also assist with the elimination of any virus in the colon. I started out slow with 2 pills before bed and I’m ramping slowly to avoid any herx reactions. There will be a strong urge to eliminate by 9:30 am, but nothing uncontrollable.

Mixing this with the Budwig Protocol, getting lots of good yogurt, acidophillis, and increasing my red blood cell count has helped tremendously. I’m down to 500mg of Valtrex which previously was unheard of.

All in all it has only taken 7 years to get to where I am, but these things are working well for me and my post will become far fewer.

Best of luck to all.

[update 9/1/12]
Started having symptoms after a few weeks on Mag O7 and ran my Doug Coil at 1552 Hz over my back and my entire large and small colon are ringing off the charts so I immediately took baking soda and Humaworm Herpes Cleanse to minimize symptoms which work like magic.
What this means is that herpes is the worlds greatest hitchhiker and will climb inside any bacteria, anaerobic and aerobic to avoid a hostile environment. Thus, in order to kill it you must fight on its turf in an acidic environment. However, adding oxygen to an acidic environment neutralizes the acid and creates water. I have some theories, but I need to run some tests with valtrex, phosphoric acid, mag O7, herpes cleanse (pau d’arco), lots of fiber, collagen, and lots of water.

On a positive note, the cracks in my left heal are clearing up meaning the Mag O7 helped kill off some internal fungus. My sinus infection is pretty much gone, and I can eat dairy without a sinus flare up.

[update 1/29/13]
Talk about symbiotic, viruses hate oxygen, but candida thrives in oxygen. Candida and herpes are great friends. The MagO7 was actually helping the candida grow and is why my symptoms started to flare up toward the end. MagO7 is still good to cleanse the colon wall and expose the underlying candida so it can be killed by coconut oil, caprylic acid, olive leave, oregano oil, monolaurin.

BTW, the cracks in my left heal are gone, it is just a little dry. The sinuses are not 100%, but they are doing great.

The Candida link to herpes

Okay, brief post on another random theory.  It looks like there is a very direct correlation between chronic herpes and candida intestinal fungus.  Both Candida and Herpes resonate at 1550-1552 Hz.  Last July ’08 when I started using my Doug Coil Rife Machine my intestines were LOADED, meaning my stomach vibrated so bad I thought I was electrocuting myself internally.  That is also about the time I started having daily outbreaks.  I thought I had liver flukes, but I’m not 100% sure about that, even though the parasite cleanses have made me feel much better. (P.S. I also think the Pau D’ Arco in the parasite and candida cleanses are great for herpes).  And, now after really focusing on eliminating the Candida my herpes is much better under control.  My Coil no only registers hits in 1-3 range instead of the 6-8 range and it is rapidly falling.

The theory is that herpes is like the clown fish and candida is like the sea anenome and herpes hides in and around the candida.  Candida is rampant in America because of the high carbohydrate diets we consume.  Please look into Renew Life’s Candida Cleanse if you think you may have an issue.  I had no idea that I had an issue until I started taking MMS and could not really get above 8-10 drops a day without terrible diarrhea.

If you have chronic herpes, I would certainly look into Candida issues.

How to Successfully Overcome Candida

Revised January 31, 2005

Author: Bee Wilder

What is Candida?

Candida is the short name used to describe yeast overgrowth in the body. The technical term for yeast overgrowth is “candidiasis” caused by the overgrowth of candida albicans.  Candida albicans is a single celled fungus belonging to the vegetable kingdom. Like their “cousins” the molds, they live all around us.  Candida albicans lives in all our mucus membranes, i.e. intestines, eyes, ears, bladder, stomach, lungs, vagina, etc. It is one of the billions of other friendly organisms that serve a useful purpose in the body. One of candida albicans’ important functions is to recognize and destroy harmful bacteria.

However, candida is not intended to overgrow and get out of control while the body is still living. That is only intended to happen when the body dies, when candida’s functions and characteristics change for the purpose of breaking the body down. What havoc is created when it gets out of hand, putting out toxins intended to break the body down while it is still alive.

How Candida affects us.

When candida albicans is under control it poses no problem, but when it gets out of control it begins to overgrow causing numerous symptoms and health problems from the top of the head to the tips of the toes, from migraines to nail fungus. Autoimmune Diseases & the Candida connection

Many autoimmune diseases and other diseases have a candida connection.  Whenever the immune system is severely depressed and cannot function normally it opens up the body to many diseases and malfunctions.  Some, but not all, of these diseases are: Arthritis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Celiac Disease/Gluten Sensitivity, Crohn’s Disease, Epstein-Barr Virus, Fibromyalgia, Graves’ Disease, HIV/AIDS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis, Sjogren’s, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Candida is very opportunist when the immune system malfunctions, with candida overgrowth found in most cases.  Therefore autoimmune diseases respond well to the candida program, particularly the diet, because it builds up and strengthens the immune system.

What causes Candida to get out of control?

A healthy immune system keeps Candida in balance with other micro-organisms in the mucous membranes.  But under certain conditions Candida begins to overgrow and get out of control.  Anything that causes the immune system to become depressed can cause Candida, but antibiotics are the biggest culprits because they wipe out friendly micro-organisms, especially in the digestive system.  Candida is resistant to antibiotics so the imbalance of micro-organisms allows it to take over.

Other factors that depress the immune system include poor nutrition, the environment, drugs, and stress, to name a few.

Poor Nutrition

Poor nutrition is one of the major contributors to Candida because it weakens the immune system which allows candida to overgrow.  Today’s standard diet lacks the necessary nutrients to maintain a healthy immune system. It is loaded with sugar, high carbohydrates, hydrogenated oils and fats (margarine, Crisco, Canola oil; trans-fats, etc.), white flour products, processed foods, food additives, preservatives, pesticides, and heavy metals.  Sugar is the biggest contributor to candida overgrowth.

The average person living in the western world consumes about 125 pounds of refined table sugar every year!  In addition to the many other damages to health, sugar is the main food supply of Candida.

The average person also consumes a diet very high in carbohydrates which also feeds Candida.  Even the food pyramid published by our governments is turned totally upside down with grains and other carbs at the bottom, and fats at the top, but the opposite is healthiest for humans.

Our high consumption of sugar, carbs and poor nutrition has been greatly influenced by the food industry.  Even the food pyramid has been influenced by the food industry in order to sell their nutrient devoid foods.  Their main motivation is money!  The food industry would have us convinced that we restrict our eating to only dead foods that have no nutritional value.

The foods industry spends millions of dollars every year for lobbying, to get laws passed to help their industry make more money by spending less time processing and to allow preservation techniques, i.e. preservatives, additives, coloring agents, foaming agents, binders, thickeners, stabilizers, emulsifiers, and other items that have been invented that kill or remove nutrition from foods.  These laws benefit the food industry but not the consumer.

Some laws actually allow the food industry to kill foods by irradiation (a process where food is exposed to high levels of radiation which disrupts the DNA of the bacteria so that it cannot reproduce, thus extending shelf life; which is the same as microwaving), but in certain they are not required to label such foods.  The current permissible radiation dosage is about 200 million times greater than a chest X-ray.

When food is irradiated the radiation breaks up the molecular structure of the food and creates a whole new set of chemicals known as “unique radiolytic products” (URPs).  These URPs include benzene, formaldehyde and a host of known mutagens and carcinogens.  Irradiation kills vitamins, friendly bacteria and enzymes, and effectively renders the food “dead.”  It is therefore useless to your body.  In addition, radiation is used to clean up food unfit for human consumption, such as spoiled fish, by killing odorous contaminating bacteria.  It also kills some friendly bacteria that naturally control the growth of harmful bacteria.

There are hundreds of test that prove the damage to humans caused by irradiated foods.  Short term studies were done on children in India, and blood tests showed chromosomal damage to the children after 6 weeks.  Short term tests were done on dogs using irradiated beef; the dogs ended up with enlarged spleens and swollen lymph nodes. Other studies, including those done under contract for the U.S. Government indicate the possibility of immunotoxicity (destroys cells), kidney disease, cardiac thrombus (a fibrinous clot that forms in one of the chambers of the heart), testicular damage and fibroplasias (the formation of fibrous tissue).  The food industry would rather irradiate instead of cleaning up their production system.

Since the early 1970s, hormones have been used extensively in the production of beef and milk in North America, with hormone development research starting as far back as the 1950s.  As many as two-thirds of cattle raised in the U.S are treated with these hormones.  The hormones are implanted or injected into cattle in various stages of maturity.

Hormones used in beef cattle include the male hormone testosterone and its synthetic equivalent trenbolone acetate, and the female hormone progesterone including three synthetic derivatives.  This synthetic form of progesterone shares similar characteristics with a class of other molecules called endocrine disruptors that imitate other human hormones in the body and have been linked to diseases such as cancer.

With tons of hormones injected into beef and veal cattle, many of these hormones end up in farm run-off in the form of solid and liquid waste.  Sanitary waste treatment is seldom found on factory farms, and many farms simply have waste settling ponds that are easily flooded. Hormones can then flow into nearby rivers and streams, as well as underground aquifers, eventually ending up in drinking water.

Fluoride in water or in foods causes many problems, including:

1) It accumulates in our bones and makes them more brittle and prone to fracture. The weight of evidence from many studies on this is overwhelming. Lifetime exposure to fluoride will contribute to higher rates of hip fracture in the elderly.

2) It accumulates in our pineal gland, possibly lowering the production of melatonin a very important regulatory hormone (Luke, 1997, 2001).

3) It damages the enamel (dental fluorosis) of a high percentage of children. Between 30 and 50% of children have dental fluorosis on at least two teeth in optimally fluoridated communities (Heller et al, 1997 and McDonagh et al, 2000).

4) There are serious, but yet unproven, concerns about a connection between fluoridation and osteosarcoma in young men (Cohn, 1992), as well as fluoridation and the current epidemics of both arthritis and hypothyroidism.

5) In animal studies fluoride at 1 ppm in drinking water increases the uptake of aluminum into the brain (Varner et al, 1998).

6) Counties with 3 ppm or more of fluoride in their water have lower fertility rates (Freni, 1994).

7) In human studies the fluoridating agents most commonly used in the US not only increase the uptake of lead into children’s blood (Masters and Coplan, 1999, 2000) but are also associated with an increase in violent behavior.

One of the unexpected results of water fluoridation was the multiplier effect caused by the processing of foods and beverages using fluoridated water.  The natural food content in most foods is so small that its contribution is insignificant compared with the amount of fluoride produced through cooking and processing food in fluoridated water.  However, that does not include the contribution made by pesticide residues containing fluoride.  Having one source may not be dangerous but adding up all of the possible sources results in a serious menace to health.

Meanwhile most of our food is grown on soil which is sadly depleted of it life-giving nutrients and many toxic chemicals are use to fight off predators, insects and disease.  Again, these are done to save time and money, but they have absolutely no benefit for the consumer.  In fact, the reverse is true.

None of us choose to have hazardous pesticides in our bodies yet the Center for Disease Control found pesticides in 100% of the people who had both blood and urine tested. The average person in this group carried a toxic cocktail of 13 of the 23 pesticides that were analyzed.  Many of the pesticides found in the test subjects have been linked to serious short- and long-term health effects including infertility, birth defects and childhood and adult cancers.  The combined effects of multiple exposures are unknown, but a growing body of research suggests that even at very low levels, the combination of these chemicals are very harmful to our health.

The Environment

Environmental issues also adversely affect the immune system, such as molds, chemicals, smoke, pesticide spraying, smog, electro-magnetic exposure, etc. The immune system is also jeopardized by many toxic substances including drugs, medicines, birth control pills, vaccines, fluoridated water, and toxic ingredients contained in household and personal care products, i.e. shampoo, body lotions, makeup, detergents, air fresheners, etc.  Allergens, food and inhalant, as well as emotional stress also affect the immune system.

Chemical compounds found everywhere in our food, air, and water are now found in every person.  The accumulation of these compounds in some individuals can lead to a variety of dysfunctions, and in some cases outright disease. The systems most affected by these xenobiotic compounds (a chemical or substance that is foreign to an organism or biological system) include the immune, neurological, and endocrine systems. Toxicity in these systems can lead to immune dysfunction, autoimmunity, asthma, allergies, cancers, cognitive deficit, mood changes, neurological illnesses, changes in libido, reproductive dysfunction, and glucose dysregulation, with candida overgrowth the central factor in all of these health problems.

How candida overgrows, causing symptoms, diseases and dysfunction

When Candida is allowed to get out of control it changes its shape and starts raising large families called colonies.  These Candida colonies excrete toxins (chemicals) that circulate throughout the body weakening the immune system and causing a myriad of symptoms and dysfunction throughout the body.  Two that are particularly devastating are called acetaldehyde and ethanol (a type of alcohol).  Both act as poisons on the various tissues of the body.

These chemicals cause all of the cells in the body to go rigid, even white and red blood cells.  However flexibility is very important for the functioning of cells which allows nutrients and hormones to go in, and waste materials to go out, as well as other important activities.

Red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body and must be flexible enough to squeeze down to about one-seventh their normal size in order to travel into the body’s tiny capillaries.  When they become rigid the transport of life-giving oxygen to all the tissues and organs is impaired.  This causes the tissues and organs to lose their ability to function.

White blood cells fight infection by wrapping part of itself around a bacteria or other foreign invader, swallowing the invader, and eventually destroying it.  White blood cells that have become brittle and rigid by yeast toxins can’t do the job.  The result?  You can’t fight off infection as easily.

There’s more.  Defective cell membranes may interfere with the ability of glucose (blood sugar) to penetrate the cells, a job normally accomplished with the help of insulin.  When cell membranes are damaged, the insulin will have trouble doing its job – and insulin levels may have to be increased.   This cause low blood sugar levels (hypoglycaemia; also called insulin reaction) resulting in low energy, light headedness, and sometimes even a coma.  However this exhausts the pancreas, causing it to dysfunction as well.

Hormones regulate your various body functions by traveling through the bloodstream to vital areas of the body.  Yeast toxins interfere with this process; the hormones are produced, and they enter the bloodstream, but they have trouble getting to their intended destination.  Once they arrive have trouble penetrating rigid cell membranes.  Even though you have plenty of hormones in your bloodstream, they can’t do the intended job if they don’t achieve adequate levels at the intended site!  Such hormones include thyroid, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and many others, even those that regulate digestion and the release of digestive juices.

Nutrients such as potassium, calcium, and other minerals also have trouble penetrating rigid cell walls.  The results can be fluid retention, electrolyte imbalance, and a number of other problems.  In fact every nutrient required by the body will have difficulty penetrating cells, including protein (amino acids), fat (cholesterol), and vitamins.

Candida also produces very long root-like structures that penetrate intestinal walls leaving microscopic holes, which allows toxins, undigested food particles, bacteria and yeast to enter the bloodstream.  This condition is known as the “Leaky Gut Syndrome”, which causes food allergies and many other health problems.  These root-like structures also cause considerable damage to the walls of the intestines resulting in poor digestion and mal-absorption of nutrients.

This, in addition to foods being irradiated (exposed to high levels of radiation to extend shelf life), foods being grown in nutrient depleted soil, long storage and transportation times, and improper handling, along with improper cooking and microwaving that goes on in most homes, all result in depleted nutrients. All of these factors contribute to a weakened immune system. A weakened immune system cannot keep the Candida in check, allowing it to get out of control.

The resultant Candida overgrowth causes many health problems and symptoms including allergies, fatigue, headaches, digestive disorders, vaginitis, arthritis, muscle weakness, joint pain, nasal congestion, pain or tightness in the chest, blurred vision, ear problems, hypoglycemia, multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, foggy thinking, loss of memory and a host of other ailments.

How do you know you have candida?

With such a wide variety of symptoms that mimic so many other diseases, how do you know that your problem is candida overgrowth?  Unfortunately most laboratory tests cannot confirm its presence.  The reason is because candida is a normal inhabitant in all our bodies and all of us will have a certain number of yeast antibodies which are required of a healthy immune system to keep yeast under control.

Therefore the most effective method of determining whether you have candida overgrowth is by taking Dr. William Crook’s Questionnaire at: http://www.mall-net.com/cgibin/quiz4.cgi?quiz=crook.qa

The Candida Control Program

In order to get Candida overgrowth under control four things need to be done. It is advisable to start this program gradually, doing each step and integrating it well into your life, and then adding the next step.

This approach will ensure you have better success and will avoid overwhelming your body and your mind. A gradual approach will not tax your ability to cope beyond what you can comfortably handle, giving you more control and success, therefore avoiding feelings of failure and discouragement.

As you start each step make all changes gradually. This is very important when taking supplements, antifungals or probiotics too. Start at the lowest dose recommended, gradually increasing it, allowing your body to adapt to it. That way it will be easier to determine what does and doesn’t work for you. Some people have to start at half or less of the recommended doses.

A. Eliminate foods that feed candida.

B. Build up the immune system.

C. Kill off candida overgrowth.

D. Plant good bacteria in the digestive tract

A. Eliminate foods that feed Candida

1.      Sugar

2.      High carbohydrates

3.      Grains

1. Sugar

Candida’s main food supply is sugar and all forms of it such as lactose contained in dairy products (except butter), honey, glucose, fructose, as well as sugar substitutes, i.e. NutraSweet, aspartame, saccharin, etc. Eliminating sugar is the most important part of the Candida Program.

All fruits, except lemons and limes, are also very high in sugar and should not be eaten during the initial stages of the Candida Control Program. Some vegetables are also high in sugar, i.e. carrots, yams, sweet potatoes, parsnips and beets.

Sugar is also contained is most processed foods such as smoked luncheon meats, ketchup, cereal, and yogurt. So reading labels carefully is very important. But reading labels can be tricky if you don’t know the many names of sugar and sweeteners. Here’s a partial list to help you.

Names for Sugar and Sweeteners

aspartame

carob powder

corn starch crystalline carbohydrate dextrin dextrose disaccharides galactose

glucose

levulose

malts of any kind

maltitol

maltodextrin

maltose (malt sugar)

manitol

mannitol

mono-saccharides

sucrose

NutraSweet

polydextrose

polysaccharides

ribose

saccharin

sorghum

suamiel

succanat

Please note that not all sugar substitutes directly feed Candida, but all of them are very damaging to the immune system.  The only sweetener that is safe to have is Stevia.

The fact that sugar greatly depresses the immune system has been known for many years and here is one clue as to why. In the 70s Linus Pauling knew that white blood cells needed a high dose of vitamin C. That was when he came up with his theory that high doses of vitamin C were needed to combat the common cold.

But vitamin C and glucose have similar chemical structures and they compete for one another upon entering the cells. If there is more glucose around, less vitamin C will be allowed into the cell. Interestingly, taking vitamin C also helps curb sugar cravings. Since our bodies must obtain vitamin C from foods or supplements this is another very good reason for eliminating sugar.

These are but a few of the bad effects sugar has on health:

-Sugar contributes to the reduction in defense against bacterial infection

-Sugar upsets mineral relationships in the body

-Sugar interferes with absorption of calcium and magnesium

-Sugar can interfere with the absorption of protein

-Sugar can change the structure of protein

-Sugar can increase the body’s fluid retention

-Sugar can cause hormonal imbalances

-Sugar is an addictive substance and can be intoxicating, similar to alcohol

2. High carbohydrates

Candida also feeds on high carbohydrate foods such as starches and grains, i.e. breads, pasta, pizza, cereals, baked goods, beans, potatoes, etc. Vegetables that are also high in carbohydrates include beets, squash, zucchini, corn, peas, parsnips, sweet potatoes, yams and carrots.

These high carb, or starchy foods store their energy as complex strands of sugar molecules (starch), which acts just like sugar in the body. That is why grains are just as addictive as sugar. After being off all sugar and grains for a few days you will find your craving for both of them will diminish.

All carbohydrates eaten turn into glucose (blood sugar), while only 58% of the protein and about 10% of the fat eaten are converted to glucose. Our bodies can actually obtain all of its glucose requirements from proteins and good fats alone. A high-complex-carbohydrate diet is nothing more than a high-glucose diet or a high-sugar diet. These are all good reasons why Candida sufferers must eliminate high carbohydrate foods.

3. Grains

Most Candida sufferers are gluten intolerant. Gluten is an elastic gluey protein found in wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt, kamut, triticale, and it is hidden in an endless variety of processed foods. Triticale is a new hybrid grain with the properties of wheat and rye, while spelt and kamut are gluten-containing wheat variants (despite claims to the contrary) and are likely to cause problems similar to other wheat varieties.

Gluten grains feed Candida because they have a high glycemic index just like sugar, and like sugar they feed the Candida creating an insulin resistance within the cells which leads to blood sugar problems like hypoglycemia and diabetes, and to high blood pressure.

Cells become insulin resistant because they are trying to protect themselves from the toxic effects of high insulin – sugars, grains and high carbohydrates. They down regulate their receptor activity and the numbers of their receptors so that they don’t have to listen to that noxious stimuli all the time. It is like having this loud, disgusting music played and you want to turn the volume down.

A less known fact is that insulin also stores magnesium. But if your cells become resistant to insulin you can’t store magnesium so you lose it through urination. Intracellular magnesium relaxes muscles. What happens when you can’t store magnesium because the cell is resistant? You lose magnesium and your blood vessels constrict.

This causes an increase in blood pressure and a reduction in energy since intracellular magnesium is required for all energy producing reactions that take place in the cell. But most importantly, magnesium is also necessary for the action of insulin and the manufacture of insulin. When you raise your insulin, you lose magnesium, and the cells become even more insulin resistant. Blood vessels constrict and glucose and insulin can’t get to the tissues. This makes the cells more insulin resistant, so the insulin levels go up and you lose more magnesium. This is the vicious cycle that begins even before you were born and leads to heart problems as well.

Gluten is a protein that is difficult to digest which interferes with mineral absorption and causes a great deal of intestinal damage. This damage, combined with the effects of yeast overgrowth, making the intestines incapable of absorbing nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and even water in some cases.

Our grain food supply also contains mycotoxins (a toxin produced by a fungus), especially found in corn and wheat. Mycotoxins suppress our normal immune function. See the section on Yeast, Mold and Fungus for more information.

Grains that are safer to consume are more seed-like than grain-like and they include buckwheat and millet. Buckwheat is valuable for its high content of cancer-preventing nitrilosides.  Brown rice and quinoa are also safe grains for Candida sufferers.

However, all grains, including those acceptable on the candida diet, are high in carbohydrates and should not be consumed when you first start on the Candida Program or while you are extremely ill and still struggling to overcome candida.  But some people who are losing weight too rapidly might have to eat a small amount of grains to stop their weight loss, in spite of being very ill.  As the person overcomes candida and their digestive system normalizes they can safely consume buckwheat, millet, quinoa, and brown rice, even if they still have some symptoms.  But they should still be cautious and not have too many.

However all grains and flours contain phytic acid (an organic acid in which phosphorus is bound) in the outer layer or bran.  Untreated phytic acid can combine with calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and especially zinc in the intestinal tract and block their absorption.  This is why a diet high in unfermented whole grains may lead to serious mineral deficiencies and bone loss.  The modern misguided practice of consuming large amounts of unprocessed bran may lead to irritable bowel syndrome, and in the long term, many other adverse affects.  Soaking allows enzymes, lactobacilli and other helpful organisms to break down and neutralize phytic acid.

Animals that nourish themselves primarily on grain and other plant matter have as many as four stomachs.  Their intestines are longer as is the entire digestion transit time.  Many, on the other hand, has but one stomach and a much shorter intestine compared to these herbivorous animals.  These features of his anatomy allow him to pass animal products before they putrefy in the gut but make him less well adapted to a diet high in grains – unless, of course, he lets the friendly bacteria of the microscopic world do some of his digesting for him in a container; thus soaking, fermenting or sour leavening of grains is mandatory for anyone’s health, not only candida sufferers.

Therefore all grains, flours and porridges must be properly prepared, soaked and/or leavened in order to make them fit to eat.  Even healthy people should eat grains in moderation because of the many factors above.

B. Build up the immune system

1. The Candida Control Diet.
2. Taking important supplements.
3. Avoiding yeast, mold and fungi
4. Improve digestion.

If the wrong diet is constantly consumed, or if yeast overgrowth damage is never reversed from previous drug, antibiotic use and poor nutrition, a cure can almost never be achieved. Eating the right foods is the most important aspect of getting Candida under control and building up the immune system.
